He says something that makes you so mad.
You want to start in on him, but just don’t do it. There may be more to the story than you realize and besides, he’s your son. He deserves to be heard.
It’s gone missing again.
You want to interrogate each of them, your kids, your husband, but just don’t do it. Ask around as if it’s the first time because being respectful is a more important lesson. And honestly, there have been times when you actually left it in your computer bag and you felt awful after you huffed and puffed in frustration.
She woke you up again, and you soooo needed to sleep.
You want to just insist she go back to her bed and that’s it! But just don’t do it. Find out what’s going on. Do your best because something IS going on, and in the long run your little girl will know she can come to you.
They refuse to do what you tell them because they’re too wrapped up in play.
You just want to start yelling to get their attention. But just don’t do it. Childhood is fast, and when our kids are playing together these memories will last a lifetime. Sibling relationships are the longest. Longer then the relationship between anyone and thier children, parents and even spouses. Build good sibling memories for them. It’s worth a little extra patience and it lasts a lifetime.
Something went wrong and you feel so guilty.
You start beating up yourself but just don’t do it. Life is full of mistakes and if we aren’t making them, we’re not living much. Hold your head up high, make apologies, make amends, give yourself a break and try better next time. Mom, you’re helping raise the next generation. Show yourself the compassion you hope their life partners will give them. Besides, kindness just feels better.
